Save California’s Plastic Bag Ban Vote “YES on Prop 67” in November.  Take the pledge!

Recent research tells us that there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050!1 We see singleuse plastic items, including the easily littered plastic bags, polluting our beaches and ocean. Marine plastic pollution is also extremely harmful, and sometimes fatal, for marine life.

CONSIDER THESE FACTS: • In California, the average person uses 360 bags a year—which adds up to 10 billion bags a year.2 • An average use time of a plastic bag is 12 minutes, but the bag lasts forever!3 • Less than 3% of bags are recycled4…which is why… • Plastic bags are one of the top items picked up at beach cleanups.

THAT IS WHY WE MUST FINALLY BAN THE BAG! After six years of advocacy to the California state legislature, a bill to ban plastic bags was signed by Governor Jerry Brown in September 2014. Unfortunately, due to the political maneuvering of the big plastics industry, the bill was stalled and will be put on the ballot as a referendum. The California voting public will now be asked to affirm this bag ban legislation by voting YES on 67 in November. Let’s make the plastic bag a thing of the past. Vote “YES on 67” in November.
