Official “California Surfing Day”

Did you know that September 20 is now officially “California Surfing Day”? The slogan is “stop, drop, and surf”!  The legislation recently passed in both the state assembly and senate as  resolution SCR 122. With help from state senator Janet Nguyen, legislation was pushed through by Diane Delm, executive director of Huntington Beach’s International Surfing Museum, Long Beach’s own Jericho Poppler-Bartlow first Professional  Women’s World  Champion, and a group of committed surfers.
The logo pictures surf legends Jericho Poplar Bartlow and Paul Strauch. Paul was the winner of the 1963 Peru International and created the “Strauch Crouch” cheater five which surfers have and will copy as long as there are waves to ride.
